Sarah Merrill Named Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College Athletic Department and Director of Athletics Joseph Brady ’96 recently announced Sarah Merrill as the next Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach. She will also serve as a member of the field hockey staff, primarily assisting with recruiting.  

“I am excited to add Sarah to our department as the new women’s lacrosse coach,” commented Brady. “Sarah has a wealth of lacrosse experience and a passion for the sport and is prepared to build a successful women’s lacrosse program.”

Merrill played all four years of high school in her hometown of Dover, NH, before attending New England College. She completed her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a Minor in Wellness in 2013. While attending New England College, she was a four-year member and senior captain of the women’s lacrosse program. She scored 73 goals along with 11 assists for 84 points. Merrill earned a master's degree in Sports Management in 2019 from the University of Southern New Hampshire. 

Merrill has a wealth of coaching experience, including serving as head women’s lacrosse coach at Thomas College in 2015. She led Thomas to a regular-season second-place finish with a 6-2 conference record and a trip to the conference championship game, finishing as the runner-up. In addition, she served as head coach of the women’s club lacrosse team at the University of New Hampshire in the fall of 2014. Merrill has been involved in club youth lacrosse since 2016. She served as girls director and coach for the Houlagan Lacrosse club in New Hampshire from 2016-17 and was a member of the coaching staff from 2016-18. She has been a member of the Seacoast United/ Houlagan Lacrosse club coaching staff for the past two years.

Most recently, Merill spent time working at Professional Physical Therapy in New Hampshire.

"I am extremely excited and blessed to be able to return to collegiate coaching as the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Anna Maria College, commented Merill. “As a former collegiate player and coach, I know how eager these athletes are to start their season and continue to become confident and strong young women. I'm thrilled to be able to help grow and strengthen this program and excited to work with all the Anna Maria faculty and staff.”
