Baseball Cant Claw Back In Loss To Falcons

NORTHBOROUGH, MA. – On Sunday, February 25th the Anna Maria College Baseball team hosted the Fitchburg State University Falcons for their Home Opener. The AMCATS lost the game 8-6.

Scoreless after three innings, the Falcons were the first on the board with a run in the top of the fourth to make it a one to nothing game. Unable to answer, the AMCATS were met in the fifth inning with five more runs from the Falcons to make it a six to zero game. Fitchburg would tack on two more runs in the sixth inning to increase their lead to 8-0. 

It wasn't until the eighth inning when the AMCATS broke their silence with a three run showing to close the lead down to five. Holding off the Falcons in the top of the ninth, the AMCATS surged for three more runs to close out the game however it wasn't enough to tie things up as the Falcons ended up on top with a final score of 8-6.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Tommy Sasso hit the AMCATS first home run of the season.
  • Nick Choate threw for three innings, striking out five batters with only one hit.
  • The AMCATS had five players make their NCAA debut against the Falcons.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, March 2nd where they will take on the Mount Union Raiders for the first game of their trip to Kissimmee Florida. Opening pitch is set for 6:30pm.
