Baseball Can't Hold On Against Raiders

AUBURNDALE, FL. – On Saturday, March 2nd the Anna Maria College baseball team took on the University of Mount Union Raiders for game on of their trip down to Florida for the Russmatt Invitational. The AMCATS lost the game 9-2.

The game opened up with a run from the Raiders in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead over the AMCATS. David Doherty would set the AMCATS up in the second inning with a hit to the short stop allowing Matt Beuka to score off a fielders choice. After tying the game up at one a piece, the game would end up being a battle of the pitchers for the next five innings. Nick Choate would post seven strikeouts with just one hit and one run throughout five innings pitched.

The AMCATS would take the lead in the top of the seventh as Kosta Drosidis hit a bomb home run out to left field to make it a 2-1 game. After taking the lead, the Raiders would score two runs in the bottom of the lead to take over the lead from the AMCATS. Struggling to come back, the AMCATS were met with four runs from the Raiders in the bottom of the eighth to give the Raiders a 9-2 lead over the AMCATS. Unable to score in the ninth inning, the AMCATS would fall to the Raiders for game one of their first game down in Florida.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Monday, March 4th where they will take on the University of Penn State Altoona for their second game of the Russmatt Invitation down in Auburndale, FL. Opening pitch is set for 7:15pm.
