Baseball Handles Monks At Home

MARLBOROUGH, MA - On Sunday, April 14th the Anna Maria College baseball team hosted the Monks of St. Joseph's (ME) for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. the AMCATS won the game 5-2.

The Amcats needed a big time start from Junior Captain Michael Shorey on Sunday and that's exactly what they got. Shorey would throw a complete game scattering 12 hits and only 2 runs over 9 innings while striking out 3. The Amcats scored first in the bottom of the 1st when Jeremy Rosenberg scored Jarrod Marifiote on an RBI Single to left. St Joes woukd answer in the 2nd to tie the game before the cats responded with 3 in the home half of the 2nd. Tommy Sasso scored Matt Bueka with a single, Jarrod Marifiote then skied one to right and was able to reach on an error, scoring Andrew Denison. Rosenberg then singled home Sasso to push the cats lead to 4-1. St Joes answered with a run in the 3rd before another Sasso RBI single extended the Cats lead to 5-2. This score would stay the same for the rest of the game as Shorey kept hitters off balance all game, just not allowing them to get comfortable at all.
