Women’s Soccer Can’t Hold On In 3-1 Loss To Pilgrims

PAXTON, MA. – On Wednesday, October 19th the Anna Maria College Women's Soccer team hosted the Pilgrims of New England College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 3-1.

The AMCATS would get the ball rolling early after Riley Michaud made her way down field sending a ball off the cross bar where Julia Smith would head the ball in off the rebound for the AMCATS first goal in eleven games. The lead would be short lived however, the Pilgrims would find their first of the game off the boot of Darion Taylor, just fifteen minutes later. Now tied at one a piece, the Pilgrims began taking control of things. Ten minutes after the tying goal, NEC would take the lead as Reese Hultgren buried the Pilgrims second goal of the evening. The AMCATS closed out the first half with a pair of scoring chances but the clock would wind down with NEC still leading 2-1 at the end of the half.

The Pilgrims wasted no time in the second half with Julia Lanoie tucking away their third goal of the evening just under ten minutes into the half. Now trailing 3-1, the AMCATS were unable to make anything happen as they only got one shot on net for the remainder of the game. The clock would run out with the AMCATS falling to the Pilgrims 3-1.
