Battle Of The Defenses: Women’s Soccer Draws With Buccaneers 0-0

PAXTON, MA. – On Monday, October 9th the Anna Maria College Women's Soccer team hosted the Mass. Maritime Buccaneers for a non-conference matchup. The AMCATS tied the game 0-0.

Evenly matched, both teams managed to battle back and forth with each other throughout the entire first half. The Buccaneers managed to get an extra shot up against the AMCATS in the first half, however goalkeeper Kortney Clark held down the fort stopping everything that came her way. The AMCATS turned on the jets in the second half putting the pressure on the Buccaneers defense as a series of corner kicks for Valentina Villa opened up a frenzy of opportunity for the Anna Maria Offense. Much like AMCATS keeper Clark, the Buccaneers wouldn't have much to worry about as Reagan Kerecz stopped all four AMCATS shots in the second half. With both teams unable to find the back of the net, the game would ultimately end in a 0-0 draw.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Riley Michaud and Mia Kuhl led the team with two shots on goal a piece.
  • Kortney Clark made five stops on the evening.
  • The AMCATS totaled 9 corner kicks over the Bucs 3.

WHAT'S NEXT:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday, October 11th where they will host the Mitchell College Mariners for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening kick off is at 6:00pm.
