Bulldogs Come Back In The Second Half To Beat Women’s Soccer 4-3

FRANKLIN, MA. – The Anna Maria College Women's Soccer team made their way out to Franklin, MA to take on the Bulldogs of Dean College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 4-3.

After a Commanding start to the game, the AMCATS came out flying in the first half, scoring their first goal just 13 minutes into play. Olympia Myers buried the AMCATS first goal off an assist from Riley Michaud. Just over ten minutes later Riley Michaud picked up a goal of her own with an assist from Abigail Smith. Now leading 2-0 over the Bulldogs, the AMCATS didn't let off the gas, burying their third goal of the night as Abigail Smith secured a two point night off an assist from Macy Hutchinson. With a resounding 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs with just under twenty minutes left to play in the first half, the AMCATS took their foot off the gas, holding off the Bulldogs to keep their lead at three going into the second half. 

After a quick fifteen minute intermission, the AMCATS were back on the field. A little bit of back and forth play kicked things off in the second half however the Bulldogs were able to find their first goal of the evening about twenty minutes into the half. Cutting the AMCATS lead down to two. The Bulldogs began to build up some momentum as they were back on the board just ten minutes later for their second goal of the night. Now keeping the AMCATS on their toes, Anna Maria tried to fend off the Bulldogs but could not keep them at bay for long with Dean scoring the game tying goal just under ten minutes later. Tied up at three, the Bulldogs were able to build off their momentum scoring the game winning goal just seconds after tying things up. With just five minutes left to play in the second half, the AMCATS couldn't tie things up and found themselves trailing behind the Bulldogs 4-3 in a heartbreaking second half loss.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Abigail Smith collected her first two points of the season with a goal and an assist against the Bulldogs.
  • Olympia Myers continued her strong start to the season with her second and third points against the Bulldogs (1 G; 1 A).
