THE BASICS:

  • Date: Wednesday, October 5, 2022

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The AMCATS broke through first on the scoreboard in the waning minutes of the first half. Off a corner kick from graduate student midfielder Keannah Dunsmore (Georgia, VT), senior midfielder DeAnna Baker (Lansdale, PA) fired a shot from the about 15-yards out that the Sharks goalie was able to knockdown but not control as the ball went directly to the foot of junior defender Abriana Morgan (Merrimack, NH) who put the point-blank shot in the back of the net. It was Morgan's first collegiate goal. Baker was credited with her second assist of the year.
  • The second half opened with a bit more excitement than the first half. The teams combined to score three goals in a span of a little more than six minutes. Morgan started the excitement when she repaid Baker with an assist on Baker's header of Morgan's corner kick in the 52nd minute. The goal was Baker's team-leading fifth goal of the year. Morgan's assist was the first of her career.
  • Not wanting to let Baker run away with the team lead in goals, Riley Michaud (Clinton, MA) scored her fifth of the year in the 56th minute, taking a lead in pass from Baker, Michaud shook off a defender in inside the penalty area and fired a shot from about 15 yards out in the middle of the field that looked like it kept rising just out of the Sharks' netminder's reach. The goal was Michaud's team-high tying fifth, while Baker was credited with the assist.
  • The Sharks then found the net for their lone goal in the 58th minute, an unassisted goal by Julia Rodgers.
  • Senior goalkeeper Alice Yokabaskas (Old Orchard Beach, ME) recorded two saves on three shots on goal.
