Women's Soccer Pick Up 2-2 Draw with Blazers

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College women's soccer team welcomed Elms College on Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Caparso Field.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Wednesday, October 12, 2022
  • Score: Elms 2, Anna Maria 2
  • Records: Elms College Blazers 4-5-3 (3-3-2 GNAC) | Anna Maria AMCATS 6-6-1 (2-5-1 GNAC)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The game was a chippy back-and-forth affair with the Blazers getting on the scoreboard first, in the 29th minute when Hailey Magierowski scored off a free kick from about 38-yards out that squeaked in just under the crossbar in the left corner.
  • The AMCATS answered back in the 63rd minute when freshman forward Jordyn Butler (Fitchburg, MA) took a lead in pass from graduate student midfielder Keannah Dunsmore (Georgia, VT) beating the defender and forcing the goalie to come off her line and fired a shot just inside the right post. The goal was Butler's second of the year.
  • The Blazers again took the lead in the 79th minute as Caroline Wilcox scored off an assist from Kayla Pasquel.
  • The AMCATS were undeterred and wasted little time in responding with their second goal of the night. This time it was senior defender Ashely Dickinson (Bowmanville, ON) who found the back of the net for her first goal of the year and second of her career. This goal came off a corner kick by Dunsmore into the front of the net where Dickinson charged in front of the keeper and headed it in. The assist was credited to Dunsmore and it was her team-high fifth of the year.
  • Senior goalkeeper Alice Yokabaskas (Old Orchard Beach, ME) recorded seven saves on nine shots.
