WOMEN'S SOCCER CLOSES OUT SEASON WITH LOSS TO MONKS

WOMEN'S SOCCER CLOSES OUT SEASON WITH LOSS TO MONKS

PAXTON, MA– On Tuesday October 29, 2024, the Anna Maria College women's soccer team hosted the Monks of Saint Joseph of Maine for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 3-0.

The Monks would come out strong offensively, within minutes getting a shot and corner kick on the AMCAT goalkeeper, but it would be Kortney Clark that would keep the Monks off the board. It would then be the AMCATS to find the offense against the Monks getting multiple opportunities but being denied by Ashlyn Guerette. The Monks would continue the pressure against the AMCATS in the opening half and would ultimately connect for the first goal of the game, off the foot of Monk player Shauna Clark, the pass would come across the field from Fridah Mwaghania. That would put the Monks up against the AMCATS 1 to 0. The AMCATS would continue to put pressure on and find opportunities but ultimately would head to half time down 1 to 0 to the Monks of Saint Joseph's of Maine.

The second half the AMCATS would look to come out strong and apply pressure trailing to the Monks 1 to 0. It would be all Monks second half as they would put on constant pressure and have multiple shots and opportunities that would lead to them getting back-to-back goals. This would increase the Monks lead on the AMCATS with a score of 3 to 0. The AMCATS would put everything they had into these final minutes left in the game against the Monks, but ultimately would not prove to be enough as Monk's goalie Fridah Mwaghania would stop all opportunities and chances the AMCATS would have on net. The AMCATS would not let down and continue to fight and put on pressure, but it would not be enough against the Monks, as they would suffer defeat against the Monks 3 to 0.
