Womens Soccer Shutdown By Blue Jays

WEST HARTFORD, CT - On Saturday October 5, 2024 the Anna Maria College women's soccer team traveled to West Hartford, CT to take on the Blue Jays of Saint Joseph of Connecticut for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 2-0.

The AMCATS would come out strong offensively, within minutes getting a shot and corner kick on the Blue Jays goalkeeper, but it would Madison Corcoran that would keep the AMCATS off the board. It would then be the Blue Jays to find the offense against the AMCATS getting multiple opportunities but being denied by AMCAT goalkeeper Kourtney Clark. The Blue Jays would continue the pressure against the AMCATS in the opening half, it would be the Blue Jays to score first against the AMCATS off a pass from Kelsi Ursini to Ava Kriak, who would get the Blue Jays on the board for the first goal in the game. The Blue Jays goal would come with about five minutes left in the first half. That would be the only goal scored in the first half between both teams, with the AMCATS trialing 1 to 0, against the Blue Jays.

The second half the AMCATS would look to come out strong, trailing to the Blue Jays 1 to 0. It would be all Blue Jays second half as they would put on constant pressure, and have multiple shots, but it would be Kourtney Clark to keep the AMCATS only trailing by one. It would be a pass from Jenna Zup to Gabby Gulino that would strike the back of the net for a Blue Jay goal adding to their lead 2 to 0 against the AMCATS. The AMCATS would continue to play defense, having some offensive pressure, but that would conclude the scoring in the match as the second half would come to an end. The AMCATS would ultimately fall short to the Blue Jays 2 to 0.
