Clark Stops Career High In 5-0 Loss To Spirit

PAXTON, MA - On Friday, August 30th the Anna Maria College women's soccer team hosted the Springfield College Spirit for their first game of the regular season. The AMCATS lost the game 5-0.

Struggling to develop some offense, the AMCATS found themselves fending off the Spirit throughout the majority of the first half. Sophomore Goalkeeper Kortney Clark kept the Spirit scoreless for the first forty five minutes of play stopping all fifteen shots that came her way. The first half closed with a score of 0-0, giving the AMCATS a fighting chance as they entered intermission.

The Spirit would keep up their relentless offensive play throughout the second half as they continued to hound the AMCATS defense. Key saves made by Clark, early in the second half would keep the game at zero a piece before Roisin Turbett opened up the scoring for the Spirit. Turbett would go on to score two more goals over the span of four minutes making it a 3-0 game with nearly 25 minutes to play in the second half. The Spirit would go on to score two more goals before closing the game out with a score of 5-0.
