Men's Basketball Sink Mariners At Home

PAXTON, MA. – On Thursday, November 30th the Anna Maria College men's basketball team hosted the Mitchell College Mariners in the Fuller Center for a non-Conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 84-77.

Struggling to maintain possession at the start of the game, the AMCATS went down early to the Mariners. It wouldn't be until about eleven minutes into the first half that the AMCATS found their stride, first tying things up with a big steal from Malakhi Knight resulting in a made layup that ultimately changed the momentum of the first half. From there the AMCATS took control of the game, pulling away from the Mariners for an eight point lead as the first half came to a close.

At the start of the second half, the AMCATS found themselves struggling yet again as the Mariners applied some serious pressure, keeping the AMCAT defense on their toes. Just seven minutes into the second half, the Mariners managed to tie the game up at 55 a piece with the help of a free throw from Brandon Lee. Taking a full timeout, the Mariners came back and took the lead with a made layup from Jaylyn Clardy to make it a 57-55 game. After tying things back up, the AMCATS found the momentum shift they needed to regain control of the game as the Mariners were unable to capitalize on a technical foul made by the AMCATS. As the crowd erupted, the AMCATS slowly took back the lead pulling away from the Mariners yet again. As time ran out, the AMCATS found themselves on top with a score of 84-77. The win puts the AMCATS at 4-4 going into to their first conference games this weekend.
