Men's Basketball Best Spartans On The Road

CASTLETON, VT - On Monday, November 20th the Anna Maria College men's basketball team traveled to Castleton, VT to take on the Castleton University Spartans for a non-conference matchup. the AMCATS won the game 87-77.

The first half started with Castleton taking an early lead of 34-28 with some impressive shooting from their players. However, Anna Maria quickly recovered and showed some resilience, outscoring their opponents in the second half with a score of 59-43. Their dominant second-half performance ultimately secured them the win.

Ray Carter Jr. played an outstanding game, finishing with a team-high 23 points. Carter Jr. was efficient from beyond the arc, shooting 7-14 from three-point range. He also contributed on the defensive end, recording one steal. Jopaul McKrieth aided the AMCATS scoring 19 points while also going 5-6 on the free throw line. Jakai Alexandre and Gabe Armstead were also crucial in Anna Maria's victory, combining for 12 points with Armstead totalling 4 assists and 5 rebounds on the night.

Both teams showcased their shooting abilities, with Anna Maria shooting an impressive 52.2% from the field and Vermont State Castleton not far behind at 47%. However, Anna Maria had the upper hand in three-point shooting, making 12 of their 31 attempts while Vermont State Castleton made 9 of their 24 attempts.

Rebounding was another key aspect of the game, with Vermont State Castleton totaling 38 rebounds compared to Anna Maria's 33. However, Anna Maria's strong shooting and defensive efforts ultimately gave them the edge they needed to secure the win.
