Blue Jays Soar Past Men’s Basketball 92-72

WEST HARTFORD, CT. – On Wednesday, January 10th the Anna Maria College men's basketball team traveled to West Hartford, CT to take on the University of Saint Joesph (CT) Blue Jays for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 92-72.

Struggling to keep up with the Blue Jays from the start, the AMCATS found themselves trailing 49-33 by the end of the first half. Gabe Armstead led the offense for the AMCATS scoring 8 points while Joe Novelli added 6 points to the Anna Maria effort. 

After the Intermission, the AMCATS came out flat, giving the Blue Jays an opportunity to put a comeback out of reach. By the time the AMCATS managed to build some momentum, the game was too far out of reach. As the clock ticked down to zero, the AMCATS found themselves trailing behind the Blue Jays by twenty points for a score of 92-72.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Gabe Armstead totaled 20 points for the AMCATS going 8-15 inside the paint while also shooting 4-6 on the free throw line.
  • Ray Carter Jr. posted 18 points in the matchup going 7-12 inside the paint with 2 three pointers.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, January 13th where they will host the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tip off is set for 2:00pm.
