Chargers Too Much For Men's Basketball

NEW LONDON, NH - On Saturday, February 3rd the Anna Maria College men's basketball team traveled to New London, NH to take on the Colby Sawyer Chargers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 83-76.

In the first half, Colby-Sawyer took an early lead and maintained control throughout the game. They finished the first half with a score of 41-24. Although Anna Maria made a comeback in the second half with 52 points, they were unable to close the gap enough to overcome Colby-Sawyer's lead.

Colby-Sawyer's Chaz Cullum was the top scorer of the game with 24 points. He had an impressive shooting performance, making 10 of his 14 field goal attempts. Sean Peterson also contributed to Colby-Sawyer's victory with 11 points. Bullen Taban had a solid performance with 8 rebounds and 5 made free throws.

For Anna Maria, Gabe Armstead led the team with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Jopaul Mckrieth scored 14 points and had 7 rebounds. Sean Zabari and Jakai Alexandre also had double-digit points with 12 and 9 respectively.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • John Witt posted a career high of 12 points.
  • Gabe Armstead led the AMCATS with 17 points going 8-15 inside the paint.
  • Sean Zabari went 3 for 4 on the free throw line to help him get 12 points.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday, February 7th where they will travel to New Haven, CT to take on the Albertus Magnus Falcons for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tip off is at 7:30pm.
