MEN'S BASKETBALL DROPS NAILBITTER TO WARRIORS 67-61
WILLIMANTIC, CT - On Sunday, December 29, 202 the Anna Maria College men's basketball team would travel to Willimantic, CT to play the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State, in the ECONN tournament. The AMCATS lost the game to the Warriors 67 to 61.
The first half of the game the AMCATS would put on the pressure against the Warriors on the offense, but the Warriors would continue to fight with the AMCATS putting up points on the board to add to their score. The first half would be played as an even matchup between both teams. The Warriors would manage to put up four more points at the end of the first half as the AMCATS would trail the Warriors 39 to 35. Gabe Armstead totaled 15 of the AMCATS 35 points in the first half, going one for one on the three-point line.
After the intermission, the AMCATS would need to find themselves battling back against the Warriors. The AMCATS would look to come out strong in the second half to pull ahead of the Warriors. The AMCATS would bring the momentum and strong offensive skills putting points up on the board against the Warriors. The AMCATS would go point for point against the Warriors and would look to complete the come from behind win against the Warriors in the game. Despite the strong offensive skills and pressure the AMCATS offensive run would fall short, as the Warriors would put up 28 points against the AMCATS and keep the AMCATS to 26 points in the second half against the Warriors. Gabe Armstead led the charge for the AMCATS with 19 points on the evening. It would be Ray Carter who would follow close behind with fifteen points in the game.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Monday December 30, 2024, where the AMCATS are waiting for their opponent to play in the consolation game in the ECON Tournament.
