MIDDLETOWN, CT– On Saturday November 23, 2024, the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to Middletown, CT for a non-conference matchup against the Suny Delhi Broncos. The AMCATS won the game 83 to 76.
In the first half, the AMCATS and the Broncos would battle it out, going basket for basket. Both teams would bring the offensive momentum putting up points on the scoreboard, the AMCATS would go point for point in the first quarter against the Broncos. The Broncos would score one last point at the final buzzer in the first half to pull ahead of the AMCATS by one point.
The AMCATS would look to go into the second half, with the same offensive momentum but stronger as they would need to pull away from the Broncos. The AMCATS would continue to battle against the Broncos and stay strong not only offensively but would also tighten up their defensive play in the second half which is what they needed to do if they wanted to take the lead over the Broncos. As the half would continue the AMCATS would look to continue the strong play and the offensive mindset, to increase their lead over the Broncos. The AMCATS would get their chances and completely silence the Broncos as the second half would continue, and they would be beginning to not only get their offensive momentum, but their defensive mindset and skills would tighten up in the game as well. It would then be the AMCATS to just completely pull away from the Broncos which is what they wanted. As the AMCATS would put up 44 points in the second half and limit to the broncos to only 36 points. The AMCATS strong offensive skills and defensive play in the second half would lead them to winning the game against the Broncos as they would completely dominate play in the second half and pull out a come from behind win against the Broncos. The AMCATS would beat the Broncos 83 to 76.
For the AMCATS Gabe Armstead was the leading scorer with 25 points. It would also be Nolan Serafin and Sean Zabari who would have a strong performance, scoring 13 points, in their outing against the Broncos.
