Reddin Scores 1,000th Point In Win Over U. Maine-Presque Isle.

PAXTON, MA. – On Monday, January 15th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team hosted the University of Maine-Presque Isle Owls at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA. The AMCATS won the game 75-58.

The AMCATS took control of the game early as they out scored the Owls by ten in the first quarter. With a standout start to the game Arianna Saladini went 3-4 outside the shooting arc for nine points in the first quarter. Arianna Gonzalez also tallied an impressive nine points in the first ten minutes of the game going 3-5 inside the paint with one three pointer. Marinique Reddin showed a gradual start to her 1,000 point performance as she posted only 8 points in the first two quarters of the game. The AMCATS still maintained control of the game however as they led 37-22 going into the intermission.

The Owls came out stronger in the second half of the game however it wasn't enough to build up a comeback. As the AMCATS still led the charge in the third quarter, the only quarter the Owls led in was the fourth quarter where they out scored the AMCATS 21-20. Twelve of the AMCATS twenty points in the fourth quarter would come from Martinique Reddin who turned on the Jets in an effort to secure her 1,000th career point. Reddins 1,000th point came from a three point shot with a little under two minutes left to go in the game. The AMCATS would close out the game on top with a final score of 75-58 giving them their seventh win of the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Marinique Reddin becomes the 13th women's basketball player in Anna Maria history to score 1,000 points.
  • Reddin also recorded her third double double in a row as well as third 25 point or higher game in a row.
  • Arianna Saladini was secodn for the AMCATS totaling 14 points on the night. 

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday, January 16th where they will make their way up to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tip off is set for 5:00pm.
