Women's Basketball Can't Hold On Against Lancers

PAXTON, MA - On Saturday, November 11th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team took on the Worcester State University Lancers for the consolation game of the Worcester City Tip-Off Tournament. the AMCATS lost the game 72-60.

Both teams started off strong in the first quarter, with Anna Maria leading 19-14. However, Worcester St. gained momentum in the second quarter and took a lead of 35-35 at halftime. In the third quarter, Worcester St. continued to dominate, outscoring Anna Maria 22-7, giving them a comfortable lead heading into the final quarter. Despite a strong effort from Anna Maria in the fourth quarter, Worcester St. held on to the lead and secured the victory with a final score of 72-60.

For Anna Maria, Gina Parmenter had a standout performance, scoring 19 points and grabbing five rebounds. Arianna Gonzalez contributed with eight points and two rebounds. Chloe Giordano and Marinique Reddin also made notable contributions with eight points each.

On the other hand, Worcester St. had a balanced scoring effort with four players scoring in double digits. Lena Waldron led the team with 13 points, followed closely by Abby St. Martin and Nyah Thomas, both contributing 13 points. Katie Hurynowicz added 12 points and had an impressive performance on the boards, with 11 rebounds.

Overall, Worcester St. dominated in several key areas, including rebounds, where they had 56 compared to Anna Maria's 32. They also had a more efficient shooting percentage, with 38.4% compared to Anna Maria's 32.8%. Additionally, Worcester St. had 22 assists compared to Anna Maria's eight, highlighting their strong team play.
