Women’s Basketball Can’t Keep Up With Blue Jays

WEST HARTFORD, CT. – On Wednesday, January 10th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to West Hartford, CT to take on the University of Saint Joesph (CT) Blue Jays for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 78-62.

Starting out strong in the first quarter, the AMCATS set the tone early taking an 18-16 lead over the Blue Jays. Unfortunately for the AMCATS, their lead would be short lived as Saint Josephs turned on the jets in the second quarter outscoring the AMCATS 21-13 giving them a 37-31 lead going into the second half.

After the intermission, the AMCATS came out flat getting outscored 17-9 to give the Blue Jays a more commanding lead as they prepared to enter the final quarter of the game. The AMCATS showed signs of life in the fourth quarter as they began to claw back however their efforts wouldn't be enough and the game would end with a score of 78-62 in favor of the Blue Jays. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Marinique Reddin led the AMCATS with 30 points going 13-22 inside the paint.
  • Madison Paulhus went 3 for 3 on the free throw line while also shooting 50% from inside the paint.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, January 13th where they will host the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tip off is set for 12:00pm.
