NEWTON, MA. – On Saturday, January 20th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to Newton, MA to take on the Lasell University Lasers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 68-53.
After a tight start to the game, the AMCATS came out of the first quarter tied up at sixteen points a piece with the Lasers. However despite the close start to the game, the Lasers Took a commanding lead in the second quarter as they outscored the AMCATS 16-5. The first half of the game would come to a close with a score of 32-21 in favor of the Lasers.
Coming back from the intermission, the AMCATS stepped things up as they outshot the Lasers 20-14 however this wasn't enough to tie the game up for Anna Maria. After a strong third quarter performance, the AMCATS fell short in the fourth quarter as the Lasers put up a late game surge to reach a final score of 68-53. The AMCATS only managed 12 points in the final quarter.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Marinique Reddin posted 18 points with 10 rebounds in the loss.
- Gina Parmenter and Sharayha Scott-Cummins each had 11 points in the matchup.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday, January 24th where they will host the Dean College Bulldogs for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tip off is set for 7:00pm.
