Men’s Soccer Can’t Come Back After Second Half Push

PAXTON, MA. – On Monday, October 9th the Anna Maria College Men's Soccer team hosted the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 2-1.

The Wildcats dominated the first half of the game scoring their first goal just nineteen minutes into the half off the boot of Jonathan Baker. The AMCATS fended off a frenzy of shots before the Wildcats managed a late second goal at the 38 minute mark after Bruno Teixeira found the back of the net for his second goal of the season. The Wildcats would keep their foot on the gas until the end of the half putting the AMCATS at a 2-0 deficit going into the intermission.

Desperate to come back, the AMCATS came out flying at the start of the second half with a hand full of scoring chances. Keeping the pressure on the Wildcats, Anna Maria battled hard for the next 40 minutes before Rubelsi Moran finally broke the ice for the Anna Maria offense. Taking on the Wildcats defense all by himself, Moran made his way to the front of the net where he would send the ball over the goalkeepers head for the AMCATS first goal of the day. Unfortunately the AMCATS goal would be too little too late and the Wildcats would wind the clock down with just minutes left to play. Unable to get back on the offensive, the AMCATS closed the game out behind the Wildcats 2-1.
