Late Come Back Puts Blazers On Top Over Men’s Soccer

SPRINGFIELD, MA. – On Wednesday, September 27th the Anna Maria College Men's Soccer team traveled to Springfield, MA for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 2-1.

The AMCATS were the first to strike with a goal from Rubelsi Moran, just under thirteen minutes into the first half of the game. The AMCATS held off the Blazers for the remainder of the half, going into the intermission with the 1-0 lead. 

The AMCATS would hold onto their 1-0 lead for the next thirty minutes before a foul from Naje Wray would lead to Jimmy Maznicki scoring the game tying goal for the Blazers. With just fifteen minutes left to play, the AMCATS need to score another goal to retake the lead. However a foul on Oluwafifehan Badejo would lead to Emanuel Monge to score the game winning goal with just 10 seconds left on the board. Maznicki was given the assist resulting in a two point night for the junior defenseman.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The AMCATS held the lead for the first time so far this season.
  • Rubelsi Moran scored his second goal of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action of Saturday, September 30th where they will host the Mitchell College Mariners for Anna Marias 2023 Family and Friends Fall Fest weekend. Opening kickoff is at 5:00pm.
