Alfred State Pioneers Past Football

ALFRED, NY. – On Saturday, October 14th the Anna Maria College Football team traveled to Alfred, NY to take on the Alfred State Pioneers for their first game of ECFC Conference play. The AMCATS lost the game 46-20.

The Pioneers hit the ground running when Danny Browning ran in a 22 yard punt return to make it a 7-0 game. The AMCATS wouldn't take long to return the favor however after trick play put the ball in the hands of Tyler Bulinski who found QB Ryan Russell for a 27 yard touchdown. Back to even with just over nine minutes left to play in the first quarter, the AMCATS would keep the game at 7-7 going into the second quarter.

The Pioneers wasted no time at the start of the second quarter with a touchdown just four seconds into play. After a missed extra point, the AMCATS found themselves trailing by six. Unable to make something happen throughout the second quarter, the Pioneers would close out the half with a touchdown from Ben Ba off a ten yard pass from Justin Horvath. Having made the extra point, the Pioneers increased their lead to 20-7 with just two minutes left to play before half.

The Pioneers would turn on the jets in the third quarter scoring three touchdowns in the first ten minutes of the quarter. Two of which came within a minute of each other. The AMCATS would finally end up back on the board with just over a minute left in the third quarter after Deandre Wallace ran in a six yard touchdown to make it a 40-14 game.

Despite the late push in the third quarter from the AMCATS, the Pioneers would add some insurance to their lead with a 53 yard run from Noah Currier with just over eight minutes left to play in the fourth quarter. With a comeback seemingly out of sight, the AMCATS would score one final touchdown after an 11 yard pass from Russell would find Bulinski with just 11 seconds left to play. The late touchdown would put the AMCATS behind the Pioneers 46-20 at the end of regulation.
