Football Topples Bison 49-14

PAXTON, MA. – On Saturday, October 28th the Anna Maria College Football team hosted the Gallaudet University Bison for an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 49-14.

The AMCATS jumped right into things with an early push that led to Ryan Russell running in a 28 yard touchdown just two minutes into the game. Nearly seven minutes later the AMCATS would tack on yet another touchdown as Russell found David Robinson for a five yard pass making it a 14-0 game half way through the first quarter. The remainder of the first wouldn't see much action and the AMCATS would hold on to their 14 point lead entering into the second quarter.

Justin Brown got things started in the second quarter with a 68 yard run for the AMCATS third touchdown of the game. Much like the first quarter the AMCATS struck again about seven minutes later as Russell sent a 10 yard pass out to Mark Johnson Morgan to make it a 28-0 game. The Bison would finally end up on the board with a little over a minute left to play in the first half as Brandon Washing ran in a 7 yard touchdown making it a 28-7 game as the first half came to a close.

The third quarter would be fairly uneventful until a last minute surge from the AMCATS resulted in a touchdown from Brown off a 15 yard run. The real action came however when Lamar Wilkes intercepted a pass from the Bison just twenty seconds later scoring a 39 yard touchdown to close out the third quarter 42-7.

The Bison started things off in the fourth quarter with a touchdown from Dre'Vaughn Mack running for 11 yards with just over nine minutes left to play in the final quarter. The AMCATS would close things out however with Jamal Cariglia scoring a 61 yard touchdown bringing the final score to 49-14.
