Women's Lacrosse Can't Comeback Against Blazers

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria Women's lacrosse team (2-2) traveled to Chicopee, MA to take on the Blazers of Elms College on Saturday March 23, 2023. The Blazers would win the game 10 to 7. 

The Blazers would score first on the AMCATS in the first quarter off a pass from Greta Frankwicz to Jackie Cronin who would score for the Blazers. It would not take long for the AMCATS to strike back, as they would get two quick goals, to take the lead over the Blazers. The AMCATS would get goals from Christine Ijawet and Ivy Ballou. The AMCATS would not be able to keep the Blazers off the board as they would score two more goals making it 3 to 2. It would be the Blazers on top in the first quarter beating the AMCATS 3 to 2. 

The Blazers would come out strong in the second quarter putting two goals in on the AMCATS now leading 5 to 2. It would be Ivy Ballou to strike again for the AMCATS to cut the Blazers lead 5 to 3 now. Blazers would then again strike back with two more goals, and it would be Ivy Ballou again for the AMCATS to close out the scoring in the first half with the AMCATS trailing the Blazers 7 to 4. 

The third quarter would be mostly defense for both teams, as one goal was scored for the Blazers and one for the AMCATS. The AMCATS would be trailing the Blazers 8 to 5 heading into the final quarter. 

The fourth quarter the AMCATS would bring strong offense and strike first with two quick goals, putting them only one goal behind the Blazers. The AMCATS offense would not be enough as the Blazers would respond with two goals within the last two minutes of the game to stay on top of the AMCATS and win the game 10 to 7.

• Ivy Ballou would have a five-goal game for the AMCATS. 
• Ivy Ballou led the AMCATS with five goals in the game increasing her total number of goals to 15 so far this season. 
• Ivy Ballou is the leading goal scorer for the AMCATS so far this season. 
• The AMCATS outshoot the Blazers 37-21 in the game.
