Liston Throws No Hitter In Game Two Of Sweep Over Bulldogs

PAXTON, MA - On Wednesday, March 27th the Anna Maria College softball team hosted the Dean College Bulldogs for a non-conference doubleheader. the AMCATS won both games with a score of 6-2 and 8-0.

Game 1: Eden Forget followed up her Back to Back GNAC Pitcher of The Week awards by delivering her 3rd straight Complete Game Victory. This time striking out 5 over 7 innings scattering 4 hits and 0 earned runs. The Cats jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a Kaitlyn Hicks RBI double that scored Shae Savoie in the 1st inning. Dean would answer with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 2-1 lead. Maddie Levesque would provide the eventual game winning hit with a 2 run double in the home half of the 3rd, scoring Forget and Maddie Crossman. Insurance would be provided in the 5th and 6th innings on an RBI single from Ella Moon and a 2 run single from Crossman to push the lead to 7-2. Forget would handle the rest and lead Anna Maria to their 5th straight victory. 

Game 2: Graduate Captain Sabrina Liston would take matters into her own hands in Game 2 as she would fire a 5-inning Perfect Game on the mound to complete the sweep for the Amcats. She was in complete control from the 1st pitch as she retired all 15 Bulldog batters she faced, mixing in 3 strikeouts and multiple innings of less than 8 pitches. She was unhittable. The offense would be powered by multiple Amcats as they saw 8 hitters record hits, 6 of them with 2. Paige Stewart got things started driving in Zoey Laine in the bottom of the 3rd to stake the Cats to a 1-0 lead. They would go on to score 5 more runs in the 3rd behind RBI doubles from Gabrielle Vasquez, Sab Liston, and Eden Forget, followed by an Ella Moon RBI Single. Graduate Captain Shae Savoie would get into the action in the 6th with her 1st Homerun of the year to dead center to push the Amcats lead to 7-0. Aine Manning would pinch hit in the bottom of the 5th and send the Amcat fans home happy with an RBI single up the middle to score Ella Moon and give the Amcats the Mercy Rule Victory 8-0.  

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Shae Savoie sits at a .558 batting average with 18 stolen bases. 3 of which came against the bulldogs.
  • Forget currently holds a 3-0 record with a .85 ERA along with 36 strikeouts in 24.2 innings.
  • Sabrina Liston tossed the first perfect game of her career as well as the AMCATS first perfect game in at least ten seasons.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Monday, April 1st where they will host the Vermont State Lyndon Hornets for a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is set to start at 1:00pm at the AMCAT Softball field in Paxton, MA.
