Softball Splits With Sharks

BRIGHTON, MA - On Saturday, April 13th the Anna Maria College softball team traveled to Brighton, MA to take on the Simmons University Sharks for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader. The AMCATS lost game one 5-0 and won game two 2-0.

Game 1: The Amcats offense was held in check in game 1 as they were only able to muster up 4 hits in the contest. Gabbie Vasquez collected 2 of those hits, with Zoey Laine and Sabrina Liston owning the other 2. Liston got the start on the mound and kept the Cats in it, she scattered 8 hits and 5 runs over 5 innings of work before Lauryn Meade threw 2 scoreless innings in relief.

Game 2: Eden Forget put the team on her back in Game 2 as she threw a Complete Game Shutout, striking out 6 in the victory. She also drove in 1 of the 2 Amcat runs, providing her own run support. The Amcats struck for both runs in the 2nd inning. Forget scored Madison Levesque with a single to right, and Paige Stewart followed up with a double to left scoring Forget. That would be all the run support she needed as she dazzled the rest of the game, shutting down the strong Simmons offense.

WHAT'S NEXT:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Sunday, April 14th where they will host the Monks of St. Joseph's (ME) for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader. Game one is set for 12:00pm.
