Forget Competes For Softball Split Against Raiders

NASHUA, NH - On Saturday, April 20th the Anna Maria College softball team traveled to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader. The AMCATS lost game one 6-0 and won game two 4-2.

Game 1: The Amcats offense was held to only 3 hits in game 1 of their doubleheader with Riv on Saturday as they were shutout 6-0. Starter Lauryn Meade was up to the task as this game was scoreless heading into the 4th inning where Rivier pushed 1 across. They provided some insurance in the 5th when they tacked on 5 more to extend their lead to 6-0. Shae Savoie, Gabrielle Vasquez and Sabrina Liston had the hits for the Cats. Mackenzie Evers threw a scoreless inning of relief.

Game 2: Eden Forget put the Amcats on her back once again to salvage another conference split. The Amcats Ace threw a complete game, scattering 8 hits and 2 runs (0 Earned) while striking out 4. Her real heroics came at the plate though, as Coach Sasso moved her up to the 2 hole in the order and she answered the call. Trailing 2-0 in the 2nd inning, Kiara Edmunds hit a double and came around to score on an Ella Moon Single. Shae Savoie then singled setting the stage for Forget. The senior connected on her 1st Career Homerun, a 3-run shot to put the Cats on top 4-2. This was all the run support she needed as she didn't allow a runner to reach 3rd base the rest of the game. She was dominant and got some help from her defense with a pair of double plays, including one to end the game.

WHAT'S NEXT:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Sunday, April 21st where they will host the Lasell University Lasers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader. Game one is set for 12:00pm.
