Meade Shuts Out Wildcats For Softball Split

PAXTON, MA - On Monday, April 15th the Anna Maria College softball team hosted the Bay Path University Wildcats for a non-conference doubleheader. The AMCATS lost game one 6-2 and won game two 1-0.

Game 1: Eden Forget started in the circle for the Cats and she gave them a chance to win scattering 10 hits and 5 earned over 7 innings while striking out 3. The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st with a 2 out 2 run double. The Amcats would respond however with a Kiki Hicks RBI single in the 1st and a Paige Stewart RBI single in the 2nd to even things up at 2. Bay Path would score the remaining 4 runs of the game from the 4th to the 7th innings to take game 1 6-2.

Game 2: Freshman Lauryn Meade was sensational in Game 2, putting the Amcats on her back and dragging them to a 1-0 victory. She scattered 5 hits and struck out 6 in a complete game effort, she was unhittable all day. The Amcats scored the only run of the game in the 4th inning when Maddie Levesque and Zoie Laine hit back to back singles. Kiara Edmunds moved them over with a fly ball to right before Maddie Romano drove in Levesque with a base hit to left field. That was all the run support Meade needed as she rolled through the final 3 innings not allowing a base runner to get past second base and secure the game 2 victory 1-0

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Meade picked up her second victory of the year with her game 2 shutout.
  • Shae Savoie added to her league leading stolen base total with number 25 and 26 on the year.

WHAT'S NEXT:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wedensday, April 17th where they will host the University of Saint Joseph's Blue Jays for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader. Game one is set for 3:00pm.
