Softball Sweeps Fisher College 14-0 and 14-1 For Home Opener

WORCESTER, MA: On Saturday afternoon, the Anna Maria College Softball team hosted the Fisher College Falcons for a non-conference doubleheader at the AMCATS Softball Field. 

THE BASICS:

• Date: Saturday March 16, 2024 

• Game 1: Fisher College 0, Anna Maria 14 (5Innings)

• Game 2: Fisher College 1, Anna Maria 14 (5 Innings)

• Records:  Fisher College 0-13 | Anna Maria AMCATS 3-7

HIGHLIGHTS

• GAME 1 

o In the first game, senior pitcher Eden Forget threw a complete game throwing a one-hitter, striking out 10 batter in only five innings without allowing a run or a walk.

o The AMCATS would quickly get on base as Shay Savoie and Kaitlyn Hicks would get on base after being walked. 

o The AMCATS would then come out strong on offense as Kiara Edmonds would hit a triple into left field scoring Kaitlyn Hicks and Shay Savoie started the rally early for the AMCATS as they would take the lead 2 to 0 lead over the Falcons. 

o The AMCATS would continue the hitting and scoring rally as Sam Dahill would single up the middle scoring Kiara Edmonds, and then it would be Madisyn Crossman to triple scoring Sam Dahill. That would increase the score for the AMCATS 4 to 0 in the bottom of the first inning.

o The AMCATS would continue to put on the offense, as the bases would be loaded with no outs against the Falcons. It would then be walks and errors that the AMCATS  would capitalize on scoring three more runs against the Falcons increasing their lead 7 to 0 against the Falcons as the first inning would close out. 

o The Falcons would get their first base runner in the second inning off an error from the AMCATS, that runner would be left on base as Eden would strike out the next three batters to end the top of the 2nd inning.  

o The AMCATS would continue to push the offense and would start the bottom of the second inning strong getting a double to center field from Sam Dahill. 

o The AMCATS would then get two more doubles in a row coming from Madisyn Crossman and Madison Levesque. Those two girls would score resulting in the AMCATS lead to increase to 10 to 0 against the Falcons. 

o The AMCATS would then get a double from Sabrina Liston and a single from Shay Savoie that would score Sabrina increasing the AMCATS lead to 11 to 0 against the Falcons. That would close out the scoring in the second inning for the AMCATS against the Falcons. 

o The AMCATS would hold the defense and Eden would continue to pitch strike out to keep the Falcons off the bases and off the scoreboard for the top of the third inning. 

o The AMCATS would continue the offense and to capitalize on the Falcons errors and walks as the AMCATS would score two more runs to close out the third inning. That would increase the AMCATS lead to 14 to 0 against the Falcons. 

o It would then be in the top of the fourth inning the Falcons would get their first hit of the game from Alexandra Willis who singled to center field. 

o It would then be the AMCAT defense to get the Falcons out on a fielder's choice and Eden Forget would close out the inning on a strike out. 

o The AMCATS for the bottom of the fourth inning capitalizing on the Falcons errors to reach base, but the Falcons did keep the AMCATS off the board in the fourth 

Eden Forget would strike out the three batters she faced in the top of the fifth inning to close out the game. The AMCATS would win game one against the Falcons 14 to 0. 

Game 2: 

o In the second game, grad student pitcher Sabrina Liston threw a complete game, striking out 9 in only five innings allowing one run and no walks. 

o The Falcons would come out strong with a single up the middle from Camryn Willis to get the offense started for the Falcons. 

o C Willis would advance to second on a fielder's choice and it would be Makayla Tzul to single to right field to score Camryn Willis. That would put the Falcons up 1 to 0 on the AMCATS. 

o The AMCATS would then get the defense going and would close out the top of the first inning allowing only one run for the Falcons. 

o The AMCATS would get the offense going against the Falcons as soon as they get up to bat as Madisyn Crossman would double to center field. 

o It would then be through Madison-Marie Romano and Madison Levesque who got out on fielder's choice that result in Madisyn Crossman to score for the AMCATS. The AMCATS would now be tied with the Falcons 1 to 1. 

o Sab Liston would then strike out all three batters from the Falcons in the second inning. 

o The AMCATS would capitalize on errors and walks from the Falcons and get the offense started with some hits to score two runs in the second inning. The first hit would come from Sabrina Liston who would single up the middle to score Gabrielle Vasquez increasing the AMCAT lead 2 to 1 against the Falcons. The second run of the inning would come off a double from Eden Forget who would score Sabrina Liston. That would close out the scoring in the bottom of the second inning, the AMCATS now leading the Falcons 3 to 1. 

o The AMCATS would close out the inning against the Falcons for the third inning with strong defense allowing no runs or runners on base. 

o The AMCATS would really power the offense in the bottom of the third inning, getting two singles, two doubles, and a triple to score nine runs against the Falcons. The AMCATS would increase their lead big now against the Falcons with it being 11 to 1. 

O The AMCATS would keep the Falcons off the board for the top of the fourth inning with strong defense only allowing one hit in the entire inning. 

O The AMCATS would capitalize on the errors from the Falcons and strong offense to score two more runs in the bottom of the four inning. That would increase the lead for the AMCATS 14 to 1. 

O The AMCATS would close the door in the top of the fifth inning allowing just one hit and no runs to close out the inning. That would result in the AMCATS winning the game against the Falcons 14 to 1. 

Inside The Numbers:

• Game 1: 

Eden Forget strikes out 10 batters in five innings allowing no runs or walks. 

o Four different AMCATS hit doubles in the game adding to the total amount of doubles this season being 18. 

o The AMCATS had two triples in the game. 

• Game 2: 

O AMCATS added five more doubles this game adding to a season total of 23 doubles. 

o THE AMCATS have never lost a game against the Falcons in two seasons. 

o AMCATS have scored 49 runs against the Falcons in two seasons. 

o AMCATS mark the first home game sweep of the season.

O This marks a four-game win streak for the AMCATS

UP NEXT: 

• The Anna Maria AMCATS will return to the field on March 27 when they play a double header at home against Dean College. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
