Raiders Bombard Field Hockey 7-1

NASHUA, NH — On Wednesday, October 4th the Anna Maria College field hockey team traveled to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 7-1.

The AMCATS were the first on the board with a goal from Ashley Garcia just five minutes into the first quarter. The lead would be short lived however, with the Raiders tying things up just five minutes later. Tied up at one a piece the Raiders would set the tone early in the second quarter with a goal just a minute and thirty seconds into play. The Raiders would spend the next fourteen minutes bombarding the AMCATS with shots. Carly Dedrick would manage to give the AMCATS a fighting chance keeping it a 2-1 game as the first half came to a close.

After the Intermission, the Raiders came out swinging scoring just two minutes into the second half. Rivier would go on to score three more goals in the third quarter to make it a 6-1 game with fifteen minutes left to play. Unable to get any offense going, the AMCATS would spend the final quarter of the game fending off the relentless Raiders offense. Rivier would score their seventh and final goal of the evening early in the fourth quarter.
