Field Hockey Edged in Defensive Struggle with Nichols

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College field hockey team took on Nichols College in a non-conference matchup this evening at Caparso Field. Both teams had their opportunities but it was the team defenses that shined the brightest in the Bisons' 2-1 victory.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Extending her streak of double-digit saves to open the season, senior goalkeeper Hannah Tobey (Falmouth, MA) made 13 saves on 15 shots. Through three games Tobey is already making a name for herself with 43 saves, good for third most in D-3.
• Junior midfielder Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) capped the game's scoring when she cut the Bisons' lead in half during the third quarter. It was Forget's first goal of the season and the 10^th of her collegiate career. Forget also led the AMCATS with three shots on goal.
• The assist on Forget's goal was credited to freshman midfielder Alexandria Keith (Pine Bush, NY). The assist is the first of Keith's collegiate career.
• Both of the Bisons' goals came from Dana Edwards (Groveland, MA). The first goal came in the closing minute of the second quarter and Emily LeBlanc (Manchester, NH) was credited with the assist. Less than five minutes into the second half, Edwards found the back of the net again, this time with a helper from Merle Steinau (Essen, Germany).

Anna Maria will be in action again on Saturday when they will travel to Boston to play Simmons University. The teams will take the field for an 11 AM start.
