Field Hockey Can’t Get One By Wildcats

PROVIDENCE, RI. – The Anna Maria College Field Hockey team traveled down to Providence, RI on Wednesday, September 6th to take on the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales. The AMCATS lost the game 4-0.

With no shots in the first quarter, the AMCATS managed to keep the Wildcats at bay with goaltender Hannah Tobey stopping 9 scoring opportunities in the first fifteen minutes. After regrouping for the second quarter, the AMCATS were met with two quick goals from the Wildcats putting them down 2-0 just over three minutes into the quarter. The Wildcats would get one more goal in the second quarter with six minutes left before half. Now trailing by three, the AMCATS remained scoreless and shotless after thirty minutes of play.

Hoping to recover after the Intermission, the AMCATS put Hannah Tobey back in net to hold off the Wildcats. After keeping Johnson and Wales at bay for nearly seven minutes, the Wildcats were able to find the back of the net yet again for their fourth and final goal of the night. The AMCATS would close the game out behind the Wildcats 4-0 with no shots on net.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Hannah Tobey stopped 12-13 shots in an effort to give the AMCATS a fighting chance.
