Field Hockey Drops Season Opener To Bison 2-0

DUDLEY, MA. – The Anna Maria College Field Hockey team made their way to Dudley, MA on Monday, September 4th to take on the Bison of Nichols College. The AMCATS lost the game 2-0.

After a scoreless first Quarter the AMCATS were outshot by the Bison 4-1 with goaltender Hannah Tobey stopping all four shots that came her way. The Bison were the first on the board with a goal five minutes into the second quarter. Unable to get a shot off for the rest of the quarter the AMCATS went into halftime trailing by one with only one shot recorded.

After the Half the AMCATS were able to tighten things up going back and forth with the Bison. With Tobey back in the net, Anna Maria was able to make it out of the quarter with no goals against. Things would not pan out quite as nice in the fourth quarter as the AMCATS were met by a flurry of shots from the Bison. Outshot 14-4 in the final quarter, the flood gates opened with just 5 minutes left to play as the Bison put away their second goal of the game. Unable to come back the AMCATS closed things out  trailing behind the Bison 2-0.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Hannah Tobey stopped all six shots that came her way during her 30 minutes played.
  • Carly Dedrick made her NCAA debut stopping 13 of 15 shots during her time in net.
  • Madison-Marie Romano led the AMCATS with four shots (2 SOG).
  • The AMCATS are 0-5 against the Bison in their last five meetings.
