Hawks Soar Past Men’s Hockey 4-1

MANCHESTER, NH. – On Saturday, January 6th the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team traveled to Manchester, NH to face off against the Saint Anselm College Hawks. The AMCATS lost the game 4-1.

Scoreless after the first twenty minutes, the AMCATS were the first to strike with a goal just six minutes into the second period after Spencer Carpenter found the back of the net off a pass from Christopher Friberg. The AMCATS lead would be short lived however as the the Hawks answered just forty seconds later with a goal from Hunter Brackett. Tied up at one a piece, the next goal of the game would come nearly seven minutes later with Brackett setting up Will Christiansen for the Hawks second goal of the game. Just ten seconds later, the Hawks found the back of the net yet again, this time off the stick of Patrick DeMarinis. As the second period came to a close, the Hawks led over the AMCATS 3-1.

The AMCATS fought hard throughout the third period however the Hawks goaltender Cam Carroll kept Anna Maria at just one goal. As time began to run out in the third period, the Hawks added an insurance goal with less than a second left on the clock as Will Van Der Veen scored on the empty net to make it a 4-1 game.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday, January 9th where they will host the Framingham State University Rams at the Horgan Arena in Auburn, MA. Opening puck drop is set for 5:40pm.
