Men’s Hockey Falls 3-2 To Falcons In Overtime

FITCHBURG, MA. – On Saturday, November 4th the Anna Maria men's Ice Hockey team made their way up to Fitchburg, MA to take on the Fitchburg State University Falcons. The AMCATS lost the game 3-2 in overtime.

Scoreless after the first period, the Falcons were the first to strike with a goal from Samuel Rennick just over four minutes into the second period. The Falcons goal would be the only goal scored in the second resulting in a 1-0 game going into the third period.

Trailing behind the Falcons, Anna Maria was quick to break their silence in the third period tying things up with a goal from Matthew Gilbert just under three minutes into the period. All tied up, the Falcons would regain the lead just minutes later as they capitalized on an AMCATS penalty with a goal from Nicklas Millhorn. The AMCATS would not take very long to tie things back up yet again as freshman Max Wennerberg put one right over the Falcons goaltender for the AMCATS second goal of the evening. As the third period came to a close, both teams sat at two goals a piece resulting in overtime action. Despite the late push from the AMCATS, they could not continue their momentum into the extra period as the Falcons came out on top with a goal from Kristopher Zapata with just over a minute left to play in overtime. The game would end 3-2 in favor of the Falcons.
