Volleyball Drops Last Two Games Of The Season 3-0 and 3-1

NASHUA, NH. – On Saturday, November 4th the Anna Maria Women's Volleyball team traveled to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders and the Elms College Blazers for their final regular season Matches of the year. The AMCATS lost both matches.

The AMCATS started the day out against the Rivier University Raiders. With a slow start to the match, the AMCATS dropped the first set 25-14. Things would not get much better for the AMCATS in the second set as the Raiders would win 25-15, taking a 2-0 lead over the AMCATS. The AMCATS would continue to struggle throughout the third set for yet another 25-14 final resulting in three straight set wins for the Raiders giving the AMCATS their first loss of the day.

Despite the slow start to the day for the AMCATS, their second match of the day against the Blazers would prove to be a much stronger performance. Battling hard in the first set, the AMCATS were narrowly beaten by the Blazers by a score of 25-22. The AMCATS would come back in the second set turning on the jets for a 25-21 win over the Blazers making it a 1-1 game. unfortunately the AMCATS wouldn't be able to hold on for much longer as the team slowly ran out of gas, getting beat in the following two sets with scores of 25-17 and 25-11. Ultimately the AMCATS would end up falling to the Blazers 3-1 for their second loss of the day. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Julia Tarantino led the AMCATS with 12 assists in the first match.
  • Jana Hunt led the team in digs during the first match.
  • Shae Savoie led the AMCATS with 19 kills in the second match while also posting 20 digs.
  • Julia Tarantino tallied an additional 29 assists in the second match.
