Volleyball beats the Wildcats in 3 straight sets to win their match

LONGMEADOW, MA. – On Saturday, October 29th the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team traveled to Longmeadow, MA for a non-conference match with the Baypath University Wildcats. The AMCATS went on to win three straight sets to win the match.

The AMCATS started their day slowly, finding themselves in a 3-11 hole. Ashley Sheehan would pull the AMCATS back into the set however with a great serving run which would pull the AMCATS back to 9-11. From here the AMCATS and Wildcats would exchange points back and forth, finding themselves tied 20-20 late in the first set. The AMCATS would see Jana Hunt rotate into serve for the final 5 points closing the first set out 25-20.

The second was a different tale for the AMCATS who would start the set hot on a 7-0 run with Serena Dennis in the server spot. From here the AMCATS would keep their foot on the gas, being sure to keep separation all the way to the end of the set. Sarah Burt would get the final two points of the set, capping off a 25-15 win in set two. The third set would be more of the same but a much more tightly contested set. The AMCATS would find themselves trading points back and forth with the largest lead at any point being four points. A ball from Serena Dennis would find Julia Tarantino who would get the kill to put the third set away 25-22. After the match, Coach Pender shared, "Last time we played them, we had no answers for their tall pin hitters. Today our blockers did an awesome job slowing them down, funneling their swings into our defense. We also did a great job serving them tough to make their hitters job much harder." Be sure to tune in Wednesday November 1st as the AMCATS travel to Franklin, MA to take on the Dean College Bulldogs.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Shae Savoy led the AMCATS with 12 kills on the night.
  • Sarah Burt led the AMCATS with a total of 9 digs.
