Women's Volleyball Open Season By Dropping Two

BUZZARDS BAY, MASS.: The Anna Maria College women's volleyball team opened the 2022 season with a pair of losses at Saturday's Tri-Match at Mass Maritime Academy, falling to Curry College and the host Buccaneers. 

THE BASICS:

• Date: Saturday, September 3, 2022
• Score: Anna Maria 0, Curry 3
• Records: Anna Maria AMCATS (0-1) | Curry Colonels (2-0)

• Score: Anna Maria 1, Mass Maritime 3
• Records: Anna Maria AMCATS (0-2) | Mass Maritime Buccaneers (1-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Anna Maria junior outside hitter Sarah Burt (Plymouth, MA) posted six kills with 11 digs against the Colonels. She later delivered 14 digs and another four kills against Mass Maritime as well.
• Anna Maria senior libero Serena Davis (Holyoke, MA) led the defense with 46 digs over seven sets, including 29 digs in the Mass Maritime match alone.
• In the game with Mass Maritime, freshman outside hitter Suzette Scheer (Farmington, CT) and senior middle blocker Ashley Sheehan (Medford, MA) tied for the team lead with six kills apiece.

UP NEXT:
Anna Maria will host Bay Path on Tuesday, September 6 at 6 pm in the Fuller Activities Center in the home opener.
