Volleyball Goes 0-2 On Senior Day

PAXTON, MA. – On Saturday, October 14th the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team hosted the Regis College Pride and the Pilgrims of New England College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match. The AMCATS lost both matches 3-0.

The AMCATS first match of the day came against the Pride of Regis College. Struggling in the first set, the AMCATS would fall to the pride 25-10. Coming up short in the second set, the AMCATS managed a tighter competition, only losing by two points. Kicking and screaming, the AMCATS didn't go down lightly in the third set, but ultimately fell to the Pride 3 sets to none.

Match number two marked the start of the Senior Day festivities as the AMCATS took on the Pilgrims of New England College. After losing the first set to the Grims 25-16, the AMCATS managed a closer game in set two falling to the New England College squad 25-19. Fighting hard to stay in the game, the AMCATS would put up there best performance, but came up short with a score of 25-21 thus closing out the final match of the day with NEC scoring 3 straight set wins over the AMCATS.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Jana Hunt led the AMCATS with 12 digs in game two while also earning 7 digs in game one.
  • Julia Tarantino earned 14 assists in game one while also leading the AMCATS with 17 assists in game two.
