Women’s Hockey Scratches Past MCLA 3-2

NORTH ADAMS, MA. – The Anna Maria Women's Ice Hockey team traveled to North Adams, MA on Friday, November 10th to take on the MCLA Trailblazers. The AMCATS won the game 3-2.

The AMCATS opened up the scoring just under a minute into the game with an unassisted goal from Jordyn Bleaney. Despite the quick start for the AMCATS, the goal from Bleaney would be the only goal scored for the remainder of the first period. 

Almost five minutes into the second period, the Trailblazers found the equalizer as Becky Ade scored a short handed goal to make it a 1-1 game. The AMCATS were quick to take back the lead however scoring just over a minute later when Tessa Henry set up Chloe Becher for the AMCATS second goal of the evening. The AMCATS would close out the second period still holding onto the 2-1 lead with Meghan Tegethoff stopping 7 out of the 8 shots during the period.

Shayla MacDonald opened up the scoring in the third period scoring the AMCATS third goal of the evening almost four minutes into the period. Now leading by two, the AMCATS looked to hold off the Trailblazers for the remainder of the game. A goal from Alexandrea Bednar with 12 minutes left in the period would give the Trailblazers an opportunity to tie things up however Tegethoff would hold the game at 3-2 giving the AMCATS the win as the clock hit zero.

  • Meghan Tegethoff earned her first career NCAA win against the Trailblazers.
  • Shayla MacDonald scored her first goal of the season.
  • Jordyn Bleaney had a goal and an assist putting her at 5 points in six games so far this season.
