Vikings Raid Women’s Ice Hockey, 2-0

SALEM, MA: The Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team lost 2-0 at Salem State University on Tuesday evening at Rockett Arena in Salem, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Salem State goalie Kaia Hollingsworth stopped all 26 shots for the shutout victory. as Salem State blanked Anna Maria 2-0 to earn their first victory of the season on Tuesday evening. The Vikings improve to 1-6 on the season while the AMCATS slip to 2-5-1. 
  • Salem State broke open the game with two second period scores. Colleen McAnespie (Lowell, Mass.) netted her first goal of the year following up her first shot attempt to put the Vikings on the board at the 9:43 mark. later, Abby Stafford (Lynn, Mass.) extended the lead as Alexis Thomas (Barnstable, Mass.) found Stafford trailing and threaded a perfect pass right on the blade of her stick for a shorthanded goal and a 2-0 lead.
  • Anna Maria junior goalkeeper Julia Smith (Chillwack, BC) finished with 20 saves for the AMCATS.

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Saturday when they host Assumption University in a 7:30 p.m. game.
