Women’s Ice Hockey Succumb to Colonels

CANTON, MA: The Anna Maria College women's traveled to face off with the Curry College Colonels on Tuesday evening for a non-conference matchup at the Canton Ice House.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

• Sophomore forward Julia Ballinger (Newport, VT) scored the game's first goal. Freshman forward Chloe Becher (Red Deer, AB) won a faceoff in the right-hand circle that cleared to sophomore forward Carly Drew (Rochester, MA). Drew pushed the pass back to graduate student forward Riley Cote (Tewksbury, MA) before being sent on to Ballinger just inside the blue line. Ballinger then sent a heavy shot through the traffic created by the Colonels' defense. The goal by Ballinger and the assists for Drew and Riley were all their first of the season.
• Junior forward Sara Sammons (Western Australia, AUS) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the second period. Senior Meghan Sonia (West Tisbury, MA) and sophomore Jordyn Bleaney (Nanoose Bay, BC) were credited with the helpers. The assists were their first and third respectively.
• Senior forward Grace Dodge (St. Paul, MN) finished the AMCAT's scoring when she scored her fourth goal of the season. Junior Angelina Rodriguez (Corona, CA) and Abigail Vigliotte (Medford, MA) earned the assists on this goal.
• The Colonels saw two goals scored by a pair of players in Margot Oxman and Grayson Goolgasian.

UP NEXT:

Anna Maria will be in action again on Friday when they will travel to Nashua, NH to meet the Rivier University Raiders in an Eastern College Hockey Alliance (ECHA) game at the Conway Ice Arena. The teams will take the ice for a 7 PM puck drop.
