Myers Recognized By NHL.com

On Monday, women's ice hockey player Olympia Myers was recognized by NHL.com in their article titled "Color of Hockey: Black, biracial players making mark on women's game" (By: William Douglas). In the article Myers is recognized as one of at least 27 black or biracial players in NCAA Division I and Division III women's hockey this season. That number is down from 32 among the 2,161 women's players listed in the NCAA's 2021-22 demographic database, but up from nine of 1,978 players listed by the college athletic governing body in 2021.

The sophomore from Grimsby, Ontario has played in 38 games with the AMCATS and has been an integral role in the teams dynamic both on and off the ice. Olympia is also a member of the women's soccer team here at Anna Maria.

Myers could not have been more excited to be recognized in the article saying, "It means a lot to my family. I'm so happy I can encourage other biracial and black women to play hockey."

We are beyond proud of Olympia and all that she has accomplished so far here at Anna Maria, and we look forward to the impact she will have in years to come, both at the school and amongst the community helping grow the game and encouraging aspiring black and biracial women to play hockey.
