Women’s Ice Hockey Ends Best Season In ECHA Finals

WORCESTER, MA: The Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team finished their best season in the history of the program on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 at Worcester State in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) finals at the Fidelity Worcester Ice Center in Worcester.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Worcester State Cassidhe Wozniak (Turners Falls, MA) opened the scoring at 12:32 of the first period when she capitalized on the first power play opportunity of the game for either team.
  • Anna Maria sophomore Angelina Rodriguez (Corona, CA) scored the biggest goal of her career to tie it up at 1-1 at 12:31 of the second period, assisted by junior forward Sara Sammons (Western Australia, AUS) and freshman forward Jordyn Bleaney (Nanoose Bay, BC).
  • Worcester State Emily Pavoni (Granby, MA) scored the game-winning goal at 4:46 of the third period.
  • Anna Maria junior goalkeeper Sam Dahill (Littleton, MA) finished with 46 saves, matching a career-high.
  • The AMCATS finished with seven wins this season, more than in their first three years as a program combined.
