Women’s Ice Hockey Opens Season At Western New England

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA : The Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team opened their 2021-2022 season with a 4-0 loss at Western New England University on Friday evening in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • WNE sophomore defender Natalie Parker (Slingerlands, NY) scored the first goal in Golden Bear program history just 5:34 into the game, assisted by sophomore forward Abby Hay (Plattsburgh, NY), giving the home team a 1-0 in the first period.
  • The Golden Bears received insurance goals from sophomore defender Kelly Yorkey (Pittsford, NY), Hay and sophomore Alyssa Murphy (Plymouth, MA).
  • Anna Maria junior defender Jacqueline Howlett (North Haven, CT) led the AMCATS with three shots.
  • Anna Maria junior goalkeeper Sam Dahill (Littleton, MA) entered the game in relief and stopped 24 of 27 shots on goal for the AMCATS.
  • WNE sophomore goalkeeper Rieley Jessie-Gerelli (Croton-on-Hudson, NY) picked up the victory for the Golden Bears with 21 saves.

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Saturday when they host WNE for a 6:00 p.m. game at the Horgan Ice Rink in Auburn.
