SEAHAWKS TOO MUCH FOR WOMEN'S HOCKEY
WORCESTER, MA. – On Saturday January 4th, 2025, the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team hosted the Salve Regina University Seahawks at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, MA. The AMCATS lost the game 4 to 0.
The Seahawks were the first on the board with a powerplay goal from Ashtyn Bringardner off a pass from Emily Wroblewski with about one minute left in the first period. Bringardner goal would open the scoring in the game as the Seahawks would strike first in the game. That goal would put the Seahawks up against the AMCATS 1 to 0. The Seahawks had complete control the entire first period outshooting the AMCATS 20 to 3. AMCATS goalie Stevie Levesque would battle the entire period to hold off the Seahawks and keep the score at 1-0 to end the first period.
The second period would be much closer for the AMCATS with having offensive opportunities against the Seahawks. Anna Maria would continue the pressure, but it would be the Seahawks goalie to deny their chances that they would get on the net. Despite the AMCATS chances, and Levesque dominating goaltending performance in the net, the Seahawks were able to get their second goal of the game off a shot from Ashtyn Bringardner. The AMCATS would remain off the score board but would increase their offensive opportunities in the second. The AMCATS would head to the second intermission down 2 to 0 to the Seahawks.
The Seahawks threw everything they had at the AMCATS in the third period out shooting them 12 to 4. AMCATS goalie Stevie Levesque would continue to play strong in net, stopping the Seahawks on multiple chances and shots they would get against the AMCATS. It would finally be after the Seahawks would get multiple opportunities that Margueritte Donahue would find the back of the net for the Seahawks, adding to their lead 3 to 0. Despite the efforts and solid goaltending from Stevie Levesque the Seahawks would find the back of the net one more time before the game would end off a shot from Emma Pereira to add to the Seahawks lead. The AMCATS would fall to the Seahawks 4 to 0.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Stevie Levesque made a career high 40 saves against the Seahawks.
