WOMEN'S HOCKEY COMPLETES THE SWEEP OVER THE HAWKS

WORCESTER, MA. – On Saturday January 11th the Anna Maria College Women's hockey team hosted the Hawks of Hilbert College. The AMCATS would go on to defeat the Hawks 5-3.
The Hawks would start the second game of the weekend off strong maintaining control of the AMCATS offense. Both teams started fast making plays, the Hawks would find the back of the net first when Anna Faulkner put home a rebound Infront of the net to give the Hawks the lead. The AMCATS would continue to apply the pressure throughout the first period. Jordyn Bleaney would get the tying goal with just over a minute left in the period as she picked up the puck from behind the net and wrapped it into the net. 
The AMCATS came out strong in the second period putting the pressure back on the Hawks right away. Camryn Beauvais would find Alexandra Petersen driving to the net to give the AMCATS the lead. The AMCATS would continue to put puck on net throughout the period and would get another goal with 5 minutes left to play from Lauren Sundgren. Sundgren would go nearly end to end and shoot far side just tucking the puck post and in. Two minutes later Camryn Beauvais would tack on another goal as she found a rebound off a shot from Jordyn Bleaney and would be able to flip it up and over the goalie. 
Coming out for the third period both teams would come out firing going back and forth for the first half of the third period. The Hawks would cut the lead in half as Kelsey Fuller would find the back of net as she would tip the puck in off a shot from the faceoff. The AMCATS final goal would come from August Otto as she was able to pick up the puck from the defender and take a quick shot far post for the goal. The AMCATS would defeat the Hawks 5-3 and would outshoot them 50-20. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  1. Alexandra Petersen would get her first NCAA goal of her career against the Hawks. 
  2. 3 AMCATS recorded a goal and an assist in the game.
  3. Jordyn Bleaney finished the weekend with 5 points (2G, 3A)
  4. Olympia Myers would lead the team with 7 shots on net
  5. Stevie Levesque stopped 18 of the 20 shots faced in the match. 
COMING UP:
The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday January 14, 2025, where they will travel to the Panthers of Plymouth State University for a conference game at 4:00PM.
